How Your Family Can Have a Spooktacular Halloween in 2020

Due to the pandemic, Halloween will look a little different this year. With social distancing guidelines in effect, families won’t be able to as freely enjoy traditional spooky festivities, like door-to-door trick-or-treating and haunted houses, as they have in previous years. However, several of our vendors are still making it possible to have safe, socially distanced Halloween fun. Many theme parks and attractions are slowly opening up for events with strict COVID-19 safety guidelines in place. Here are some of the best, and safest, events you and your family can experience for a spooktacular Halloween week.
Scarium of the Pacific
The Aquarium of the Pacific will be opening for a fun Halloween-themed weekend from October 23rd to 25th. Discover creatures lurking in the depths of the Aquarium while surrounded by spooky décor as you explore! All participants are invited to wear family-friendly costumes during this event. In accordance with the Aquarium’s safety protocols, advance reservations to Scarium of the Pacific are required.
Halloween on Catalina Island
Want to enjoy Halloween by land and sea? Catalina Island will be hosting several different Halloween events from October 27-31, including Trick or Treating, an Annual Halloween Parade, and a Costume Party. These events are FREE and everyone is encouraged to participate with costumes, including face masks. Make sure you plan your trip ahead of time and reserve a spot on the Catalina Express to join the festivities.
Halloween in Miniland
LEGOLAND® California Resort welcomes all families to join their Halloween event, where guests will be able to enjoy a spooky scavenger hunt, character meet-n-greets, and seasonal fall treats! Halloween in Miniland will be happening every weekend in October, with tickets and reservations required. All guests must also wear a face covering, even with their costumes. Be sure to learn more about their Health & Safety Guidelines before your visit!
Halloween Drive-In Movies
The LA Zoo is hosting its first-ever drive-in movie series this month, with a dedicated Halloween-themed movie weekend. From October 29th to November 1st, the LA Zoo’s parking lot will transform into a drive-in theater, featuring movies such as Clue, Goosebumps, The Addams Family, and Poltergeist. There will also be a pre-show video presentation featuring some of your favorite Zoo animals, trivia challenges, and more! Capacity is limited, so book your space beforehand.
SeaWorld's Spooktacular Weekends
SeaWorld San Diego has spooky surprises in store for families this Halloween! At SeaWorld’s Spooktacular Weekends, parents and children will be able to have fun at the Spooktacular Candy Garden & Candy Stations, Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt, Kids’ Costume Contests, Sesame Street® Halloween Dance Party, and more. Reservations are required to experience SeaWorld Spooktacular, and guests will be asked to comply with the safety procedures.
Taste of Fall-O-Ween
In lieu of its popular Knott’s Scary Farm event, Knott's Berry Farm has launched a new way for families to enjoy the park this Halloween: the Taste of Fall-O-Ween festival! Families will be able to trick-or-treat in a safe zone and try a new selection of fall and Halloween-themed treats and dishes. Unfortunately, tickets to the Taste of Fall-O-Ween festival are sold out, but families looking to enjoy the Halloween spirit will still be able to experience Knott’s outdoor retail space at their own leisure. Face coverings are mandatory. Interested in joining these safe Halloween festivities? Contact us to learn more!
